Plaza Azteca: Familiar Food With A Convenient Location

By Tiffany Stahlbaum

Plaza Azteca in Prince Frederick MD 20678

Calvert County has another Mexican restaurant. While it’s true that our little county has its fair share, those who love Lusby’s Monterey will be happy that Plaza Azteca, with the same owner, has similar food and atmosphere.

You’ll find Plaza Azteca in Prince Frederick where Jasper’s American Grille used to be, just across Route 4 from the Fire Department. Inside there’s plenty of room for large groups or parties and a spacious bar area lined with flat screen televisions. For sports fans, this could be the biggest sports bar in town. They have late weekend hours, karaoke, and delicious margaritas to help your singing.

During the week it’s quiet. I went there for lunch and though there was a steady flow of people coming in, it didn’t feel crowded. They have lunch specials, but the portions don’t seem lunch sized (they’re big). My fajitas were delicious and filling. Attentive enough without pestering, the service was good and our food came out quickly. Though our waiter wasn’t sure what spinach sauce was, that wouldn’t keep me from going back.

My husband took my youngest there last week and enjoyed it as well. They have a children’s menu with familiar foods for picky eaters and lower prices. Family friendly and centrally located in the county, this is another good Mexican restaurant to add to you list of places to go.

About Tiffany Stahlbaum

I moved to Maryland in 2011 after living overseas for 6 years. We chose Calvert for the award-winning schools, nice houses, and reasonable commute. Moving to the country, I really had no idea what I'd find, but have been continually surprised by the local treasures that I find not only in the local restaurants, but in the people, places, and cultures that make up this unique place.
