Despite the snowy weeks of February and early March, my children were able to play outside without winter coats and snow suits during the late afternoon on Day Lights Saving’s. All this sunshine and melting snow has me thinking about Spring, which means outdoor egg hunts, woven baskets, and chocolate shaped bunnies. In Calvert County, all those point to the family-friendly Town of Chesapeake Beach’s Annual Easter Festival at Kellam’s Field behind Trader’s Restaurant. This is a non-denominational celebration of Spring and community, all are welcome.
The Easter Bunny will, of course, will be in attendance. Several other special guests such as; Quacks the Water Park Duck and Superheroes of Southern Maryland will be in attendance. Holiday treats will be provided by Friends & Merchants of the Town of Chesapeake Beach.
If you are interested in supporting the event or reserving a table please call 410-257-2230 or email Connie at [email protected]. The town will provide a table and tablecloth for your use and they expect about 1000 people to attend the event. If you would like more information about the event, or see the merchant letter and information visit http://www.chesapeake-beach.md.us/events_easter.htm.
Easter Sunday is April 5, 2015. This year’s community celebration will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. If there is inclement weather the festivities are just moved back a day to March 29, 2015. This event is free to the community. There are so many activities packed in to the 90 minute celebration. Your children will enjoy everything from the five-in-one moonbounce to the sixty foot inflatable obstacle course. There will also be a ride-on trackless train available, as well as games and many photo opportunities.
This event promotes community unity and offers a free, safe, and happy celebration for all of the area citizens.
