Boy meets girl, the rubber meets the road, and in North Beach this Friday zip meets date. Before we get carried away though, lets talk about some fun numbers.
If you are like me or many other people you like to find patterns in numbers from your daily life. Sometimes the day, date, or others number you encounter throughout your day may be the same backwards, forwards, or repeating in a way that catches your eye.
While there isn’t usually a point to any of this it just might make you smile. If you are totally geeking out though and want to take this way too far the time and date website has a pattern calculator which will automatically find patterns for a given date. For today’s date there were a total of 98 patterns but let’s not loose track of the upcoming momentous occasion.
Friday February 7th the zip code of North Beach meets the calendar date. A day this rare causes for a celebration and that is exactly what is happening at the North Beach Post Office. The mayor of North Beach, Mark Frazer, will issue a proclamation starting at 11AM. Outgoing mail can be postmarked with the special cancellation (seen above). In addition, patrons can bring un-addressed envelopes with first class postage on them and can have them hand canceled and given back as a souvenir.
The cancellation graphic was designed by Steve Kortie, a North Beach, Maryland resident. Will you go get a piece of mail canceled on this special zip meets date event in North Beach, MD 20714?
Another zip meets date event occurs next year in Broomes Island (20615) and then it won’t happen for another 15 years in Dowell (20629). So, don’t miss this historic moment.
