Have you been to The Tavern in the last year? If you answered no, than you are missing out. New owners, Mike and Tracy, have worked hard to take the bar out of the 70’s and bring it into the 2000’s.
The Tavern hosts pool tables, darts, a dance floor, and a few tables for dinning in. On nice days, you can take your meal and drinks outdoors.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner there the other night. I never even knew they did food, let alone good food. I ordered a burger on a pretzel bun. They had me at the pretzel bun part. My husband had the buffalo shrimp. As I was licking my lips, I knew that would not be the last meal I would eat at The Tavern.
Other items that caught my attention were the Crab Melt and Fish and Chips. Tracy says her Chicken Salad Sandwich is a hit with everyone. While the menu isn’t large, it offers a nice variety of food to choose from. I was excited to hear you can also place carry out orders from them. Living right down the street, I was excited to have another option other than driving to Prince Frederick or Lusby for a quick meal. You can order food from 11am-9pm daily. After 9pm , you can still order the fried items.
The bar carries a wide variety of beers on tap. I was excited to see my personal favorite, Angry Orchid. They also carry local brew from Mully’s Brewery. Sit, drink , and chat with locals or catch your favorite sporting event on one of the bar TVs.
The Tavern hosts a variety of events. You can stop in on Tuesdays for Acoustic music, DJs every Friday, and Live bands on Saturday night. Be sure to check out their calendar online. The event schedule varies from winter to summer. Special events include Scavenger Hunts, Poker Runs, and Charity Events. I was surprised to learn how involved The Tavern was with giving back to the community.
The Tavern is not just a bar. It is a place to eat, drink, be entertained, and give back. Cheers!
