If you enjoy food like I do, then you have probably sampled many of the great restaurants all over Calvert County. Sometimes it’s hard to choose just where to go when you’re in the mood to eat out. That’s why Taste of Solomons is such a great event. It offers you a chance to visit several restaurants in one day and sample a little of what each has to offer.
I went to my first Taste of Solomons in 2012, and I loved it so much that I went back the following year. The first time was more memorable to me, though, because it exceeded all expectations. My friends and I bought five tasting tickets each, but we didn’t quite get that far.
Pro tip: start out with a small number of tickets (I found 3 to be enough for a full meal) and buy more individually as needed.
My first Taste of Solomons included Bistro Belle Maison (pear, chevre, and honey crepe served with white wine), CD Café (Kahlua pork sliders with mango chutney glaze), and The Great American Grill at the Hilton Garden Inn (crab cakes with aioli and bread pudding). That was enough to finish me off, but the kind people at our last destination allowed me to cash in my remaining tickets for crab cakes to go.
The following year, I found myself again at CD Café, but I started out with some delicious homemade cavatelli pasta with Bolognese and a side of eggplant bruschetta from DiGiovanni’s. That was a fairly generous amount of food, so the cream of crab soup and key lime pie at CD Café (our next stop) was just enough to finish my meal.
Naturally, I will have to go again. There are so many great restaurants in Solomons, after all. The next Taste of Solomons is March 29, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be there, and bring your appetite.
