If you’re going out to dinner with someone who doesn’t like seafood or a group of people with various tastes, Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill is the perfect place. I love seafood, but my husband (who isn’t crazy about it) got a bit tired of enduring burger after burger at seafood restaurants just so I could get a crab cake or some salmon. Ruddy Duck has solved this problem. I can indulge in excellent seafood while he has quite a bit more to choose from on the menu than just a burger or some kind of chicken dish.
Oh, and there’s beer. Let’s not forget that. That’s the bait I used to get my husband in the door there. Otherwise, he probably would’ve just settled for Applebee’s or Ruby Tuesday because they’re not as far of a drive. But he loves a good brewery, so it was easy to convince him.
What I like about Ruddy Duck is that it’s a good place for both a casual gathering and a nice dinner. We’ve been there to celebrate a wedding anniversary and a promotion, and I’ve been there with friends for team trivia on a Monday night (which is also $10 pizza and pint night).
They have the best crab cakes I’ve tasted here in Calvert County (so far, at least). It should go without saying that duck is rather prominent on the menu. (I love duck, so I really need to order something with duck next time.) And even though I’m not really a beer drinker, their wheat beer and Biere Nouveau appeal well enough to my wine-loving palate.
If you haven’t been to Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill yet (and I’m kind of amazed at the number of people I’ve talked to who haven’t), then what are you waiting for? The food is fantastic. And if you like beer, I’m sure you’ll find something you can drink. I consider myself to be somewhat of a foodie, while dear husband is not, but we both love it here at Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill.
