Until recently, the only Chinese restaurant I’ve tried here in Calvert County was East Café in Dunkirk. But since I love Chinese food and I especially love a good deal, I decided to give Laughing Buddha in Solomons a try. If you’re looking for a delicious and generous meal at a good price, look no further.
I arrived at Laughing Buddha around noon, and there was plenty of seating available, though business began picking up soon after I got there. The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside. However, the inside is very clean and elegant, though the lighting is a bit dim. The classic rock music seemed a bit out of place, given the ambience. But I like that type of music, so it didn’t bother me in the slightest.
The lunch menu offers a nice variety of dishes. Entrées come with steamed or fried rice, spring roll and choice of soup. I ordered the shrimp lo mein with steamed rice, and I chose egg drop soup. My entrée was about $8, which seemed to be the average price for most of the lunch options.
The soup was brought out within a couple minutes, though it was a little too hot for me. I had to let it sit for a few minutes. By the time my entrée arrived, it was the perfect temperature.
The lo mein hit the spot. The shrimp was cooked just right and tasted wonderful with the crisp vegetables, noodles and sauce. I would have been happy with just the lo mein and the spring roll (which was crispy and not at all greasy), but I’m not going to say no to rice. I was mixing it with the lo mein, which may have been carb overload. I regret nothing.
If you need your food on the go, there’s no problem there. Call ahead and place your order for carry out. Otherwise, Laughing Buddha recommends that you make reservations if you plan to dine in, but walk-ins are also accepted. Either way, you’ll be served a great meal with the utmost courtesy.

We’ve eaten there several times. We live in Prince Frederick and will drive there to get take out! The dinner portions are fairly large. We usually get two meals from each one. The food is really good. If it were closer we would eat there more often.
