On Sunday, I stopped by Calvert County’s only Christmas tree farm. When I pulled in, I saw Mr. Scrivener waiting for us with a big smile on his face and a basket of candy canes ready for the kids. You can tell that he loves what he does. He’s been happily running this tree farm for 11 years.
Just minutes from the medical center in Prince Frederick, you’ll find a nice selection of White Pine, Scotch Pine, and Douglas Fir that you can choose from. They’re happy to cut down your tree for you, but provide the saws for you to cut it down yourself if you’d like. I saw a family there taking turns sawing. There’s a bundler by the parking area and helpers to carefully wrap up the branches for the drive home.
Mrs. Scrivener makes beautiful wreaths and kissing balls as well and you can even buy a sprig of mistletoe, so one stop to Scrivener’s and your holiday greening is done!
If you need help, just ask. A woman with crutches was choosing from photos her husband was texting to her, so the Scrivener family gave her a ride on their Gator so she could see it in person!
After driving all over other counties in search of my annual Christmas tree, I’m thrilled to find a farm right here. Every year, Scrivener’s Choose and Cut Christmas Tree Farm opens the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving. They only remain open on weekends as long as they have enough trees left to sell, so call ahead before heading out.
