If you’re free on Saturday and want to learn more about wine pairings and which area restaurants use locally-sourced ingredients, get out to North Beach between noon and 6 p.m. for the third annual Eat·Drink·Go LOCAL. This event offers an open-air market feel. Stroll among the stalls featuring handcrafted goods, cheeses, and local produce.
Many area restaurants will be offering up menu items made with regional ingredients. North Beach’s own Sweet Sue’s Bake Shop will have cupcakes filled with local fruit. Dream Weaver Catering out of Prince Frederick will also be there serving dishes completely made from local ingredients.
At the time of this post, 17 wineries are scheduled to be there as well, offering sips and tips on wine pairings. Four of them are right here in Calvert County, including Fridays Creek, Cove Point, Solomons Island, and Perigeaux. If you find something you like, you can buy it by the glass, bottle, or case at the event. To add to the festive atmosphere, there will also be live music.
You can buy tickets in advance at the link below for $20, or pay $25 on site. The event is held on Bay Avenue, making the Chesapeake Bay the scenic backdrop.
The kind people at the Maryland Wineries Association set me up with a press pass, so I’ll be going there for the first time. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you about this event! Subscribe by email (in the top of the sidebar to the right) so you don’t miss it.
