My husband and I stopped by the newly opened thrift and gift shop located in the Chesapeake Market Center in St. Leonard, MD. Heather Bamford opened the new store, Help4Veterans, this month. The idea for the store came from Bamford’s own experience as a military spouse. Heather and her husband, Glenn, both work for Operation Safe Shelter. They work to provide support for homeless and distressed veterans. This organization works hard to make sure that local veterans have a place to call home, transportation, essential items, and more. This is an organization serving MD, VA, and DC.
Help4Veterans is a thrift and gift store that thrives on donations to keep their inventory stocked. Proceeds from the sales of the items go to benefit veterans in need. You can stop by and make donations during store hours. Items that can be donated include, but are not limited to, clothing, shoes, books, glassware, decorations, and more. The store is open Wednesday-Saturday 10-5pm, and Sunday 10-2pm. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
When you go to check-out you will be handed a purchase punch card. This allows you to receive 50% off one item when you have earned 5 stars. So keep that card handy in your wallet for your next shopping trip.
Before going and purchasing something new, stop in and give Help4Veterans a once over. You will not only be helping the environment and your wallet, but you will be making a difference in the lives of veterans in our area.
